Consider it joy when you meet trials of various kinds…that you might be whole, complete, lacking in nothing.

— James 1:3-5

What does Kolibri mean?

Kolibri is the international word for “hummingbird” - a bird specifically designed and gifted to find the sweetest places hidden inside of a flower. Many don’t know that the beak of a hummingbird is designed to navigate through the bitter parts of the flower to find the sweet nectar of the flower’s life.

Like a hummingbird, we at Kolibri feel called and committed to walking with people into and through the bitter parts of their lives in order to find the beauty and glory of who they were truly created to be.

Katie and Scott met at the University of South Alabama and were married in 2004. They have five children and currently call Mobile, AL their home. Together they have found a love for integrating their ministry in diverse and distressed communities, therapeutic contexts, as well as their faith in Jesus, to bring about wholeness, health, and freedom for others.

Scott is a native of Auburn, AL. He earned his bachelors degree from the University of South Alabama and earned a Master of Divinity from Reformed Theological Seminary. Scott served in pastoral and church planting ministry for 15 years and is currently ordained in the Presbyterian Church in America.

He holds multiple certifications in Narrative Focused Trauma Care from The Allender Center at the Seattle School of Theology and Psychology. While serving at The Allender Center as a fellow and facilitator, Scott developed a passion for walking with people as they navigate and heal from their past stories of trauma. He believes that engaging and understanding our core stories of past harm is critical for understanding and seeing our current invitations for healing and purpose.

In 2022, Scott was given the opportunity to train under and work with Jay Stringer (author of the book Unwanted ) as a core facilitator for The Unwanted Guide Training. Scott loves this particular work because it goes beyond traditional approaches, equipping participants with the necessary resources and experiences to help individuals connect the dots between their unwanted sexual behaviors and their personal stories in order to find healing and wholeness.

Scott specializes in providing pastoral counsel and care:

  • to those undergoing significant trials and difficulties in life

  • to those who are struggling with unwanted sexual behavior, addictions, misconduct, trauma and abuse

  • for those who want to explore and heal from previous stories of harm

  • to married couples who need pastoral direction and insight
